XnView: MP 1.6.4 - 64 bit Libformat 7.170
OS: Windows 10 64bit
Sidecar files which have a "." (dot) in the filename name part (e.g. "20230506_part_1. part_2.xmp") are displayed regardless of the setting of the respective flag in the XnView settings.
Effect: Sidecar files are displayed in the thumbnail section despite the setting is to not display them.
To reproduce:
1. Set XnView to not display sidecars in thumbnail view.
1. Generate a image/sidecare filename containing a "." in the name section of the string (e.g. "20230506_part_1.part_2.nef" "20230506_part_1.part_2.xmp")
3. List the respective folder in the thumbnail view. The xmp file is not excluded.
4. Remove the middle dot from the filename.
5. List the respective folder in the thumbnail view. The xmp file is excluded.
Actual behaviour (bug): Sidecars with a "." (dot) in the filename name section are displayed regardless of the setting of the respective flag in the XnView settings.
Expected behaviour: Sidecars with a valid filename should not appear in the thumbnail view, if the seeting is accordingly.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.4. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Re: 1.6.4: Sidecar files with a "." in the filename are not excluded from being displayed
Unfortunately the bug is only partially fixed. While "." in a filename works not for hiding the xmp-files. it does not work it the filename contains either ". " or " ." (dot blank or blank dot), which is the case for me here.
I unfortunately missed this name configuration in my guide to reproduce below.
Tested with version 1.8.5. Libformat 7.201
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
