Rating removed after opening in Adobe Camera Raw

Post by FKCapitalism2 »

If set rating 3 star (Ctrl+3) then open in Adobe Camera Raw and do some edits to DNG then rating is lots upon saving changes.

If set rating in Adobe Camera Raw say rating 1 star then save edits it shows rating 1 star in XnViewMP however if for same image set rating 3 star in XnViewMP and open in Adobe Camera Raw then save edits it will jump back to rating 1 star after saving.

Maybe way XnViewMP saves rating is incorrect it should save same way as Adobe Camera Raw does it updating rating inside DNG file then it won't get lost between edits.
In other words Adobe Camera Raw does not see rating that XnViewMP is set and when saving file it just updates rating to be 0 star.

You can test on this DNG https://www.upload.ee/files/18874666/DSC04085.zip.html

p.s. In my Adobe Camera Raw settings i have option XMP embedded in DNG and update DNGpreview every time on save.

Rating/Label for RAW is only saved in Catalog, currently can't be changed in RAW itself

Is there way to save only the rating in external .XMP sidecar file or could you make it happen perhaps this could have solved the problem as Photoshop always prioritize sidecar .XMP files over what is embedded in DNG itself when opening in Adobe Camera Raw.

Basically if i create sidecar .XMP and place next to DNG with settings settings (screenshot in first post) Adobe Camera Raw will prioritize whatever settings are inside sidecar .XMP over what's in DNG and upon saving it will "eat the .XMP" (delete .XMP and save updated the settings in the DNG).
