Yes, my error, the path should be "local_machine" etc, with the entries noted above.

No, au contraire. The ghostscript files are installed in the correct directory, but XnView cannot read them, so I also get the error message "ghostscript was not found on your system."

And you have the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/GPL Ghostcript/8.56 key?

I do not understand what you mean.

The entries are
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/GPL Ghostscript
(default)
/8.56

and under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/GPL Ghostscript/8.56
(default)
GS_DLL
GS_LIB

All of these are installed by the exe: gs856w54.exe
I do not recall any optional settings in the installation.

Pierre, I sent you a PM last week with a URL to a jpg of the registry. I believe that all the files are where they should be....exactly where the ghostscript installation program put them. Please help. Thank you!
