RC1: Open - System / Edit - System - very useful but...

If there would be keys F3 and F4, this is not problem for me, but add these keys next to:Olive wrote:Keys are ok, but "open with" and "edit with" are not necessary IMO, since they break the sentence that started with "Open with >>" (hope that makes sense)
I'd prefer:
Open With >>
...
--------------
Associated Program
Associated Editor
Open with Associated Program ... F3
Edit with Associated Editor ......... F4
Users will see it first time and will use keys next time.
However I'd prefer rather to remove other items from the context menu...
And what about this (I think it would be really useful):
Open with Associated Program - with Ctrl+LMB
Edit with Associated Editor - with Shift+LMB
The way it is implemented in RC4 differs from what the last result of this discussion was.
The labels for "Open / Edit" are different and they are now buried in the "Open With..." cascading menu:
Think we should decide whether this should be changed to what we suggested or not. The "Add program" and "Remove all" in the middle is not nice I think. The idea was to have Open/Edit in the main context menu to make it accessible quickly and easily (not in the cascaded menu).
Also I'd like to continue the discussion on the naming a bit. I think "Open with Associated Program" and "Edit with associated Editor" is too long and not so clear.
Some suggestions:
1.
Open - System
Edit - System
2.
Open (System)
Edit (System)
3.
Open (Associated Program)
Edit (Associated Program)
4.
Open in Associated Program
Edit in Associated Program

Warning - maybe a bit OT
I agree with Helmut: (F3 and F4 is important)
Open in Associated Program ... F3
Edit in Associated Program ..... F4
BUT - I think:
We don't need those items for images (because with "Open" image is opened in xnview and with "Edit" in Paint). "Open with (Add program)" is better for images I think.
We need it just for non image files, so why not add this option?
[x] Open all non image files in associated program
Why we have to use the context menu if we could do a double-click or press Enter?
See also my suggestions from "hotkeys/shortcuts" list:
- Open with Associated Program - Ctrl+LMB
- Edit with Associated Editor - Shift+LMB

Why not use Windows Explorer to begin with if you only want to open pictures with XNView?Dreamer wrote:[x] Open all non image files in associated program

OT (?)
Windows Explorer? Never! Just file manager. I just think that such option would be better than two items in already overloaded context menu.Danny wrote:Why not use Windows Explorer to begin with if you only want to open pictures with XNView?Dreamer wrote:[x] Open all non image files in associated program
