Like Dreamer already said: it's already being called "Viewer" in the options and it has probably had this name for a very long time. So it should keep it's name "View mode" and not be called "Edit mode".

I mean, come on, the editing features are very limited. I never use XNView for anthing that Gimp (for example) can do.

It would be confusing to rename the more functional, edit capable fullscreen. So why not name it according to what it does?

"Expanded Preview" and "Fullscreen".

Unless they are functionally identical to each other, it could be confusing to use the term fullscreen to the new 'Expanded Preview' function.

Also, if you wanted to distinguish on mode from another, a small frame could be drawn around 'Expanded Preview'.

I don't like "Expanded Preview" too.

Maybe - "Fullscreen Preview" or "Preview Fullscreen" ?

I don't understand this 'semi fullscreen' thought at all. "Fullscreen Preview" or "Preview Fullscreen" don't tell me nothing about the mode, but mode named this way would surely wake up my interest (but that's not the point).

Edit:
I removed something what reveal how dum I am, but that don't change txt above.

"New Fullscreen" is when you press F11 or F in the browser, it's preview in fullscreen, therefore my suggestions:

- "Browser Fullscreen"
- "Fullscreen Preview"

Ok, now i know at least what we're talking about. To me that's just "Fullscreen". Why? Because there's no other fullscreen mode.

And it's certainly no fullscreen preview cause it's already being displayed as big as possible. A preview is a small sample of somthing to give you an idea about the whole thing.

How this is different than fullscreen?

Danny,
Danny wrote:To me that's just "Fullscreen". Why? Because there's no other fullscreen mode.
There is other fullscreen mode - when you press MMB, F11 or F in Viewer. Difference is e.g. RMB context menu.

I suggest to wait how many features will be in "new" fullscreen mode in RC4 and we could call it just "Fullscreen" then...

ckv,

I misunderstood.

Oh, ok! Now i got the whole picture. Now the first question that came to mind was: why is it even different? What benefit do we have in creating 2 different fullscreen view modes? I expectet them to be the same so i'm taken by surprise here.

On first thought it may be a good idea to call the current "view mode" (the one with the menu shown as tab) "edit mode" from then on. Then you'd have the classic "fullscreen" with no editing capabilities and the new "edit mode" with the possibility to work on the full screen.

I really don't understand what this discussion is about. And reading other people's comments I have the feeling that I'm not the only one.

Copied from other topic:

Didn't we agree that fullscreen mode and fullscreen lite behave 100% the same? Yes, i try to have same menu, keyboard, ...
So why use different terms for something that is different only on the technical level, but not for the user? I really don't get it. I'll wait for RC4 to see what we actually have.
