FYI: the issue was there, I did not try to fix the problem since I did not know what to do. But after a while, PDF thumbnails are back!
I did not try to fix or reinstall GhostScript, Xnview or Adobe products. And all those programs were already up-to-date.
I've just updated Windows recently, a small update, probably rebooted several times, and now after a couple of days PDF thumbnails are back...

OK, I found it now. I've enabled that option but it didn't work, thanks anyway.
Could you send me your email by PM?

For the record I use Windows 7 x64. I permanently disabled Windows updates back in 2016 when Microsoft started sending telemetry and installing malware. I consider Windows 10 to be malware as it completely does away with user privacy and sends logs of everything you do back to Microsoft, including the sites you visit, your keystrokes, and your webcam. I hate everything about Windows 10, especially the ugly interface. I no longer trust Microsoft and will never buy an OS from them again. I will likely move to Linux at some point, keeping a Windows 7 partition for programs I can't run in Linux. But I wouldn't touch Win 10.

Fast forward one year, and new questions arise: how to proceed on a M1 Mac? Ghostscript seems to be available as a native ARM64 binary, while XNView MP still runs via Rosetta. Could XNV still utilise GS?

Speaking of, is there a timeframe for a native ARM64 build of XNView?

Cheers,
mgo

XnView use GS, GS can be ARM or Intel version

I've been looking for a replacement to Media Pro since moving to M1 Mac (as it no longer works) and XnView seems to be it!! Great work.

Only thing as in this thread, I can't get PDF thumbnails to work. I have read here that I need Ghostscript installed?
I have tried to install Homebrew using the code on the website here: https://brew.sh
And then run the code: brew install ghostscript to install Ghostscript.

But still in XnView I don't have thumbnails for pdf's. Any help?

It seems that launch app doesn't use $PATH variable (with homebrew path)
you need to use

Code: Select all

sudo launchctl config user path <my path setting>
source

Thanks but I am not familiar at all with this so have just been copy/pasting off other sites to try and get it to work. Do you have full steps? What is <my path setting>?

something like

Code: Select all

sudo launchctl config user path /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/opt/homebrew/bin

Thanks! After running that command I got a reply that it had been applied and to restart my machine. After restarting XnView now shows PDF files properly!

Maybe you could put this somewhere in the app itself to make it easier for others to install and get pdf's working right.

Yes of course, the same on another PC. Before it works as well, but without any reason just all PDF disappeared from view...

when you click on a PDF file in thumbnail view, do you have preview?

No, I can't see any preview, it's looks like no any PDF in folder at all. But physically they are in folder.
In pictures one at the same folder...
