Thanks for the info. If I edit xnview.ini then dropping links from xnviewMP to ms-access works again. However, if I adjust the settings using the setting dialog, then it seems that the value in the ini file defaults back to dropping image data. I don't yet have a set of steps to reproduce the issue but it has occurred a few times. I close xnviewMP, when editing the ini file. Maybe I am doing something wrong? Could you put the setting into the settings dialog? Version 1.3.1 64bits (Oct 11 2022)

Not sure how you managed to drag&drop images into Excel in the first place as even my Excel 2021 does not support d&d from windows' own File Explorer and I doubt XnView's browser will differ in that matter.
People suggest weird workarounds since version 2007 - drag&drop images to word first, then from word to excel
