VERY slow start of XnViewMP with VPN on

Dear Pierre,
For quite some time now I have a similar problem as described here: The start of XnView is very slow (>half an hour; yes, I "wait" for it), however, no VPN is running. Thus, I tried the debug=2 option that you mentioned, and in fact, it "hangs" at the same position:

I hoped to get some "SHGetFileInfo() timed out" as a hint, where the filesystem is corrupt (or whatever), but I did not receive any. Do you have an explanation or is there any other option, which would tell me, which folder is problematic?

Yes, it happens on each start. Also, right after a restart of the computer.

Please try to check in 'Resource monitor' if you see a process that uses this file?

Dear Pierre,
There is no other handle of the folder than the one by XnView MP.
(Please note our PM communication roughly a month ago; the latest idea of a cause of the problem was the presence VS Code on my computer.)

Summary of the investigation through PM for others: we found out that the problem only occurs when a subfolder is clicked in the browser (=main view), but not when it is clicked in the treeview on the left. Thus, for the moment, the problem is avoided by setting the default folder of the browser to none (Tools/Settings/General/Open browser at startup/Directory-->None) and then selecting folders only in the treeview.
