Did you try to renew the whole catalog ?(
only if your ratings and other tags are saved as metadata )
- Save a copy of xnview.db file before starting XnV
- Settings Metadata : ensure xmp import options are enabled
- Settings Catalog : delete all
- Settings catalog : add folder (select the parent folder for your entire set of photos)
- Wait (about 15 min for 10 000 photos to be read ...)
- - The catalog should be complete.
This operation was already mentioned and performed.
I don’t remember any errors at that time.
However, I tried again the import, and twice I had a partial import due to an XnView MP crash.
I have reported the issues in the dialog.
It seems suspicious..
I am trying again now (with Windows sleep/suspend disabled).

1. Open a root folder containing many subfolders (e.g., structured by year/month YYYY_MM).
(In my case, a very large collection with TBs of images and videos.)
and if you open the folder containing this file?
do you use 'base path' in Settings>Catalog?
In this case, I can find the image if I filter directly inside its subfolder.
And after viewing it, I can then find it also when filtering from the root folder.
Yes I use base path.
Thank you All for the support

Yes I use base path.
There is
a problem with 'update metadata' when using 'base path'

Thank you,
you mean that after upgrading 1.9.6 I won't face such issues?
Or that the video issue preventing the renew of the catalog is a new bug?
What is the video that is causing me this issue? So that I can exclude it as a workaround...
Thank you in advance

Hi Pierre,
could it be that we still have similar issues with video ratings?
It seems that videos are not handled the same way as images in the Catalog Filter.
I would expect that importing a folder into the catalog would make it possible to filter videos accordingly.
Thank you in advance,
Vincenzo

You are right, I am sorry! Can you try again? Should be ok..
I have also checked the metadata with ExifTool, and the video file does contain the rating in the correct standard field:
[XMP-xmp] Rating : 4
So the rating is properly written in the XMP namespace..
However, XnView MP still doesn’t detect this rating, not filtering ...
It seems an issue on how XnView MP handles (or fails to read) XMP ratings embedded in MP4 video files.
Thank you in advance,
Vincenzo

the rating is in .xmp file or in the video itself? Please send us a sample file
