I have tried unchecking Purge 'Most Recently Used Files & Directories' and now I return to have saved my Templates.
The "Purge 'Most Recently Used Files & Directories' is OK but it should not delete the Templates, or at least to have a checkbox if you wont to delete also Templates also.
Thanks a lot. Best regards.

I totally agree that the Template history should not be changed and I would like to reinforce this request.

Heya, first of all I have to say I fully agree to all that is said in here, including that the Purge 'Most Recently Used Files & Directories' should not erase the template history at all.
That said, I wish to thank you all for picking up my question!!
I, too, unchecked the option and now my template history is fine.

I disagree. It should be possible to disable all history in xnview, with one, or more options (perhaps the current option + "purge template history").

...is there already a "solution" for this topic? I'd also like to have a "clean" document history but also a permanent template for the batch rename in xnview

Name Template: last used pattern is lost after restart contains a list of related topics.
Also for me, the templates seemed to disappear without reason (I tried several times to find a reason), so I expected it to be a bug and used for ~2 years a .TXT file to save my templates...

I did not expect "Purge MRU
Files & Directories" also to purge templates, as the name does not suggest this behavior.
I agree with Dreamer; 2 options would be a solution that shall satisfy most use cases
- Option to delete files & directories. Motivation: Remembering directories of one PC makes no sense for an app on a USB stick (next PC has other directories), but remembering templates makes sense (are the same for all PCs). Also applies when multiple users of one PC work in strictly separated file system areas.
- Option to delete all private data, like batch rename templates, IPTC keyword lists, "show information" templates etc. This option won't be activated by me, as I don't want to define all that stuff every time I start XnView.
