For me, it is best to have both XnShellEx and SageThumbs installed at the same time. SageThumbs has more features but supports only 3 conversion formats. XnShellEx supports 7.

Conversion Formats
SageThumbs 1.0.0.12:
Bmp, Gif, Jpg

XnShellEx 1.2:
Bmp, Gif, Jpg, Pcx, Png, Tif, Tga

He'll probably fix\improve SageThumbs once XnView 1.80 goes Final and the sdk has been updated.

Hi, right now I have XnView 1.74 and SageThumbs installed (don't know which version, though).

I want to deinstall XnView 1.74 and try the newest release candidate instead.

Two questions:
1) How do I deinstall SageThumbs?
2) Does the newest version of SageThumbs work with RCs of XnView?

You should be able to uninstall it through the Control Panel -> Add \ Remove Programs.

Your second point, I'll leave for the author of SageThumbs to comment on.

SageThumb is a standalone application but if detected installed Xnview 1.7x it additionally uses ones plugins. I think XnView plugins API changed since version 1.8x and now undocumented and thus unusable.

You could leave SageThumbs and XnView 1.74 installed (so SageThumbs will work with the 1.74 plugins API). Then install XnView 1.80 RC2 in a different directory. Since 1.80 Release Candidates do not have a Windows Installer, just create a directory under Program Files called XnView Beta or XnView 1.80b. Then copy and paste the 1.80 files in that directory. When the plugins API and SageThumbs have been updated to 1.8x, then you can uninstall SageThumbs and XnView 1.74 and install the new version of SageThumbs.

It seems to work ok with JPG and other formats I have but TGA files stay the same old icon...

This has source code if you want to add tga support.

Is there a way to turn off thumbnails in context menu?

I appreciate SageThumbs. By the way, how do I remove thumbnails from context menu? All I need is viewing thumbnails for several unsupported format (PNM and JPEG 2000) images in Windows Explorer. Thank you!

I have a lot of B/W TIFF with 16bit depth and I see SageThumbs shows only black thumbnail (both in context menu and as thumbnail in windows file explorer).
Is it possible to solve this problem ?

Updated d/l link and problem w/ forum site

Absolutely awesome tool - have just started using it. Two things:

1. The download links didn't work; the "official" link comes up 403/forbidden, and the other link 404s. The link I found which works is this one:

http://rapidshare.de/files/26843867/SageThumbs.rar.html

2. Somehow, this forum site initially was displaying in English, and at some point it suddenly started displaying in Spanish. I'm not sure how this happened (I don't think I clicked on anything to do this, and I don't even see a Spanish version - just German and French in addition to English), but deleting the cookie for the site fixed the problem.

What so hard to make this as regular XP thumbnail handler?

Everyone is creating "their own" way for viewing pictures instead of the "normal" thumbnail mode in explorer. I do not want to right click for it.
