This is a photoshop/8bf plugin that both reduces noise and sharpens. You can use it to sharpen images, or to remove noise, or both at once, it gets much better results than most methods. It's intended purpose is to remove JPG artifacts (hence the name), but it works well on all noise. Play around with the settings for the best results.

Bad news: It doesn't work with xnview. Xnview spots it and adds it to the 8bf filters list, but when you try to use it it doesn't launch. It works fine in other programs, so the problem is some sort of compatability issue with xnview.

Lastly: This plugin is completely free.

I can't get any photoshop CS2 filter to work in xnview. It shows black picture only.

Make XnViewer be compatible with new adobe plugin format?
The problem is that Adobe don't put specification for public :-(

Developers of other image applications don't have any access to it anymore, so they can't support newer plugin features. However, plugin developers who want to make their plugin compatible with a large variety of applications, should anyway use the old SDK from Photoshop 3.05 or 4.0, which already includes all important specifications.
