One annoying thing!

An example:
If I select 100 images to perform a batch operation & all images are write protected, then 100 error messages pops up, one after the other.

And if I want to remove the write protection on them, I have to do so on all images one by one = 100 times.

If I do the same thing in In Windows, it can be done with a few mouse clicks: select, right click, properties, untag write protection. Done

• XnView is not a file manager, thus the “Change attributes” function is missing.

• I think that an extra INI entry could solve the issue, something like :

OverrideReadOnly= flag
0 : Disabled (no change, displays the boring message, default).
1 : Doesn't display the overwrite message in batch operations more than only once.
2 : Doesn't display the overwrite message in any case.

• Waiting for that, you could change the attributes as one go for a bunch of selected files…
…like I do i.e. in Total Commander, where it's pretty easy…

It´s not a major problem, but in my opinion, XnView IS a file manager (it manages images=files. or am I wrong here

I don´t se any reason to have one "popup window" for every selected file.
Why not ONE single "Error: Selected Images are write protected" message.

I think ACDSee handles things like this quite well.
(I uninstalled my ACDSee 4 when I found XnView)

Anyway, I really like XnView for it´s speed.
Keep up the good work.

No, you're not wrong, I totally agree. Not that I've encountered this yet but XnView should be able to handle this better. I.e. a button with "no to all" or "yes to all".

Exactly my point!

In Explorer, the way of doing this is to hold shift when you click. Not to say it's the best method, a button or checkbox is much friendlier. A flag would be overly cryptic for something this common.

Related to the topic, the way it totally bails if you try to copy on top of a read-only image is pretty annoying, since it can just cut out in the middle of a mass file copy and you have to figure out where to restart it.

So how to fix this problem?
A "apply to all" in properties to change hidden flag for a batch of files?
