I am new here, so forgive me if I ask a stupid Q. I am really impressed by XNV and the way it allows to generate webpages.

However, I have tried to make a simple template, without TABLES.

This one will not work, because the XNV programme outputs <TR> and </TR> before/after each thumb.
what can I do ?

Yes, the <tr> ... </tr> really shouldn't be there. This limits the usage and possibilities of the templates.
