Strange, do you use cache DB? Could you try without?

I found same issue and found solution for me at least.
XNView came a lot faster after I deleted all caches with XNView tools-options-thumbnails-cache-remove all.
I changed also compression to be lossy, it was lossless.

Do you mean disable cache at the thumbnail options or an other option? Disable thumbnail cache dosn't help.
@Henri: I would like to keep the thumbnail cache, because many files are cached (approx. 2GB - some images are high res HDRIs)

Do you have tried to optimise the cache?

I am also having this problem
With a folder containing 442 sub folders and 12437 images, 1.94.2 opened the thumbnails in about 2 minutes. 1.95 has been running for about 5 minutes and still hasn't opened them.
They are already thumbnailed and cached.

Do you have big difference if you disabled the cache between 1.94.2 & 1.95?
Could you try to rename the .db file to test?
Very strange, could you send me your email by PM?

After renaming the db file, both versions work at about the same speed.
And for some reason I cannot disable caching, I untick the box, but the OK button does nothing so I have to cancel.

Even if you rebuild all thumbnails? Do you have tried to make optimize on old DB?

Neither Optimizing nor Delete All cache does not help for me!

After optimizing = 300+ Kb.
New db is empty = 9 Kb

So not big at all. And always slow with this 300Kb DB?
Do you use categories?
