- enable the parent folder [..] item for thumbnails view
- enter the folder in thumbnails (or thumb. & label) view
- select all files
= no file is displayed in preview (I'm not sure if this is a bug, but the first, or last item should be displayed)

#1 (?)
- select the first image
- no problem, the first image is displayed in the preview
- select all files
- select the second image
= last image is displayed in preview

#2
XnView 1.96, Win Vista SP1.

Hello !
• I can confirm for #1. However, I don't think it's a bug, since the first
item is the parent folder itself, not an image file…
• I can
not confirm for #2, here under XP-Pro SP1, the second image is displayed as it should.

OK, so I can't reproduce #2 sometimes, don't know why, just try to enter another folder until you will be able to reproduce. I can reproduce it always in some folders, sometimes in others and never in one folder.
BTW - when you select all, then select any picture, the
correct picture is displayed, then select all, select any picture, the
last picture is displayed, then again select all, then select any picture, the
correct picture is displayed, then select all, select any picture, the
last picture is displayed...
