after copy and paste I can't see new file in directory

Hello,

I've a problem with copy and paste. If I copy a file from one directory to another, I can't see this file in the destination-directory. I first must close this directory, then open once more and then I see the file. It's not a great bug, but it's disturbing.

Please help me if you can. Thanks
guelu

To copy/paste, you use Edit/Copy, change folder and Edit/Paste?

Yes, I go on the right window mark a picture and select copy, then I select on the left side another directory click in the right window and select paste and then no change is to see. Now I must change into another directory and come back to the directory where I paste the picture and then I can see it.

By the way, the computers of my women and my son have the same problem.

Anyhow, be sure I find XnView great!

Greetings
guelu

I can't reproduce this bug. Do you copy a .jpg file? If you copy & paste in the same folder?

Which version of XnView do you use? Which OS (XP, Vista, ...)?

Yes, I copy .jpg-files and it is incurious if the destination-directory is the same as the source or not. It's always to go the same detour.

I use XP pro 32 Bit and XnView Version 1.96 (Feb 24.2009) Libformat Version 5.30

I can't reproduce this bug.
Have you got "Allow pasting to selected subfolder" enabled in Options?

I had installed it on a new installed system (second operation system on my PC)

Today I will test it with kubuntu 64-Bit (third operating system on my PC). I'll tell you the result.

Sorry I can't test XnView with kubuntu yet, cause I've a problem to install it, that's a kubuntu-problem,
but the problem with XnView in XP and Vista is more important for me.

Could you try in a folder with 1 file, and try to copy it on the same folder

As you asked me to try with a folder with one file and copy this into the same folder, I made a testfolder on my desktop and tried it.
XnView worked proper with this folder. After trying something I could isolate problem - XnView works proper with all local folders, folders on other extern hd's (usb) and also with a testfolder on another pc in my LAN.
The problem is only with my network-harddisk (all my digital fotos are archived there). It is an iomega MDHD500N for homenetworking.
If I copy outside of XnView, paradoxically the copy and paste on this hd works correct.
