XnView Software

I am working on Macintosh X 10.3.8. As far as could find out, there does not exist a help file for Mac. On the download page nothing is mentioned.
I downloaded the help-en.chm file, but it can not be opened by XnView or another program.

How to obtain the helpfile.

Currently, the online help is available as Windows Help document, only (.chm).

The .chm file is created from single HTML pages, with some effort an Online help could be created which can be viewed with your normal browser. Do web browsers on McIntosh support frames? If so, the table of contents could appear in a frame on the left and the contents on the right.

Not quite clear what your "Yes" means and refers to.

With firefox of course they have frames, and i think also with most of others too.

It would be great when the compiled HTML file "help-en.chm" can be converted back to a HTML file.

That's clear now. Actually, the .chm files are created from .html files. So all the HTML files and images are available.
The HTML based online help for Macintosh should also have a table of contents and search functionality. I'm currently looking for ways to achieve that, I think a solution is near.

Thank you Dreamer for pointing those tools. I also stumbled over chm2web and have tried a conversion. The result is pretty good but needs some fine tuning. I'll check out the CHM2HTML and see what that one can do. I think one or the other will make the job.

As written before, chm2web does the job well, but not 100%.

There's free chm readers available for MacOS X. Think that's a better way than converting HTML files back and forth.
Such a freeware chm viewer is http://chmox.sourceforge.net/.

Could you, Wouter or a Macintosh user check "chmox" out?

I tried it and it works fine! Problem solved.
May be to include the helpfile + info/link to cmox on page http://perso.wanadoo.fr/pierre.g/xnview ... acosx.html

Good to hear that you can view the XnView Online help file using "chmox". Installing downloading and installing chmox is some extra for the Macintosh users, but I think it's o.k. and not too much work.

Not sure what the integration of the Online help with XnView is like on Macintosh using chmox:
On Windows, when pressing F1 the Online help opens up. Perhaps this works on Macintosh, already. If not, with some change/option might become possible.
