Similar problem with | character.

=> | can be pasted onto image

=> Now the dialog is showing a strange square character:

No one?

The only "bug" I found with the "&" char
is that one has to type it twice to the text-string to get it displayed once.
No problems with the "|" char for XnView 1.96.2 !!

Im on german Windows XP SP3 with german keyboard layout. Maybe that's why?

There's nothing wrong with your keyboard, Dstruct. This is clearly a bug in XnView.

This problem still is exists in 1.97! Only the "&" problem is fixed.

Same in 1.97.1 ...

Yes not in the changelog (not easy to fix, can be a problem with old .ini)

Here another weird issue:


Try to add <<< as text onto an image. Result: Just two arrows << get pasted onto the image!?

Yes normal, <..> is used for placeholder

Placeholder for what?

< and > pass on commands listed with the "Insert" button, like <Filename>
