I have a very large TIF that consistently crashes MP (GPF) during the create thumbnails activity.

File format: TIFF with LZW compression
File size: 62Mb
Image dimensions: 6637 x 3787

MP 0.21 will not complete thumbnailing the folder because it cannot get past this image.

No problem encountered with XnView 1.9x and this image.

PS. The large TIF opens directly from the commandline, (though very slowly, with no apparent "low-res" preview).

MP does not crash, however, until I switch to the browser and MP tries to thumbnail the image.

Summarizing this bug: MP crashes trying to thumbnail a large TIFF, but will "view" the file successfully.

The crash is only on thumbnail creation? Is it possible to have the file?

Hum, your bug is strange. Do you have other large TIFF file to test?

I have some time today. Will let you know what I discover.

OK, I moved that TIFF to a new folder and the original folder finished thumbnailing correctly, even the super-duper large images.

So there is a problem with that specific TIFF file.

The shell menu version of XnView also fails to thumbnail it, but does not crash the way MP does.

Pierre: what else can/should I do? MP displays the file properly, but it just won't thumbnail.

There is no urgency for me, since this appears to be an isolated case.

It's very strange that XN can load the file and not render the thumbnail. So i need the file

Ok, the problem is with XMP metadata

Is the file bad? I converted it to PNG with no issue.
