Plugins not recognized after unzipping in Plugins director

Hi,

I am trying to install the slideshow video plug-in:

http://www.xnview.com/download/addons/video.zip

I have read through the forum and unzipped the files in the

c:\XnView-win\XnView\Plugins

Directory, but when I restart xnview and go to Info->Plug-Ins Information, I don't see the new DLL's that I have just unzipped.

Here are the contents of the above directory:

Code: Select all

libmcl-5.3.1b4.dll
libdsw-1.0.7.dll
Xjp2.dll
slide.exe
mpeg.dll
libwmv-1.0.4.dll
libogg-2.0.2.dll
libmpg-2.0.5.dll
What am I missing?

Thanks again

The following are the contents of the Addon folder:

Code: Select all

Xmp.xnp
PhotoMasque.xnp
PhotoMasque.lng
PhotoMasque.dat
Paint.xnp
Paint.lng
NeroCD.xnp
NeroCD.lng
FTP.xnp
FTP.lng
Masks
libwmv-1.0.4.dll
libogg-2.0.2.dll
libmpg-2.0.5.dll
libmcl-5.3.1b4.dll
libdsw-1.0.7.dll

I still see nothing when I check for these in the Info menu.

Thanks

Info/Plugins doesn't list Addon plugins

Thanks for your reply.

There is an Info/Plugins/Addons menu Which refers to the Xnvew\Addon directory. However, none of the above mentioned files are listed there. Is there some way I can verify that it is actually obtaining access to these dll's. I'm trying to create an mpg movie from a slideshow, but I can't seem to get it to work.

Little help?

yes right. Start slideshow dialog, and you should have 'create video' button

PlugIns in PlugIn directory makes sense. Plugins in AddOn directory is strange. And a dialog which displays the PlugIns in the AddOn directory, only, is even stranger. Couldn't this be cleaned up to avoid further problems, misunderstandings and headaches?

Suggestions for PlugIns and Addons:
1 - All PlugIns should be in "PlugIns" folder
2 - All AddOns should be in AddOns folder
3 - "AddOn" folder should be renamed to "AddOns" (plural, like "PlugIns")
4 - There should be a way to display PlugIns info and AddOns info for checking correct installation.

• Hi !

• What about all additional stuff in a single sub-folder named for instance : “Plug-ins_Add-ons” ?
A common listing is indeed desirable, but unfortunately there are DLLs and EXEs in both types…
- A workaround should be that Pierre'ld add a prefix (i.e. A_) to all current add-ons,
then they could be spotted easily in such a common listing… Image

Plugins folder is only for I/O format plugins (used by Nconvert & GFLSDK), Addon is for XnView plugins

Some suggestions:
- Download packages with subfolder path included
All Plugins and AddOns should be zipped with relative folder ("Plugin" / "AddOn") included. Then, the user simply unpacks the ZIP archive in the program folder of XnView and everything is alright.

For one like me, who loves experimenting with varous available facilities, unzipping each of those plugins into a single directory (addon or plugins) may create problems particularly while trying to remove some of them.

So, I request Pierre and all third party plugins developers to install (unzip) into a different subfolder corresponding with the particular plugin.

for example, neroCD plugin may be placed in the folder .../addons/neroCD and so on.

Request Pierre and the developers of third party plugins may consider the possibility.
Installing plug-ins & add-ons into subdirectories could also help to eliminate the guesswork when tracing down bugs:
