Audio file peak thumbnails

Believe it or not, but I have found XNView an awesome help for browsing audio files. I work in a game company, and we have a large sound effects library. With XNView, I can quickly search for .wavs, browse the results, preview them with XNView's previewer, then drag & drop them to my audio editor. Super handy! On top of that, XNView has the best batch renaming utility ever.
The only one thing that would be really awesome, was if XNVew was able to generate and cache thumbnail peak icons for audio files. Are there any open source libraries that could do this, which could be integrated into XNView?
