[Question] What do these options mean ?

Hi there,
I'm using XnView RC2, and there are 2 options I don't understand.
Use Shell context to open picture.
Use Embedded thumbnail.
What do these 2 options mean ?

The Embedded thumbnail it's to get the thumbnail from jpg files.

The "Use Shell context to open picture" option is suppose to allow use of the app thats associated with the file by default (eg. IrfanView is associated with my graphics files so with this option, XnView would tell pass the request to IrfanView)
For some reason this option doesn't work anymore with 1.80 RC2 but I can't report it cause RC2 bug reporting is frozen until RC3 arrives.

That depends on if you prefer speed or quality. Most digital cameras embed small JPEG preview thumbnails directly into the large JPEG images. It's a small image inside the original, large image. The small image is what you get when you quickly browse through the images on the camera in playback mode. XnView utilizes these small images to create thumbnails lightning fast. Instead of taking the whole image and downsizing it, it just takes the small image and shows it.
The good about using embedded thumbnails:
- lightning fast
The bad:
- you cannot affect their quality in any way, as opposed to letting XnView create thumbnails from the large image. XnView just takes the small image as it is.
