To exclude text files (*.txt) from the browser, I MUST use Filter>Custom. The Filter>Text check boxes don't appear to work.

1. Including txt extension in custom works properly

2. Using the "Text" file type category does not work properly

To reproduce:

• • Open browser
  • Navigate to a folder with text files
  • Open Settings->Browser->Filelist
  • Remove "txt" from the custom categories if present
  • For the "Text" category, set "Visible" and "Show as thumb" to TRUE
  • Click OK
  • Observe that text files are displayed in the browser file panel
  • Open Settings->Browser->Filelist
  • For the "Text" category, set "Visible" and "Show as thumb" to FALSE
  • Click OK
  • Observe that text files are still displayed in the browser file panel

Here you can see I have disabled all the File List text boxes, but the text files are still visible.

Notice that in the image the browser filter is set to "Custom". A strange behavior is that every time I attempt to select "All" in the filter combo box, the result becomes "Custom". Perhaps the two behaviors are related?

Pierre sent me that version to test a bug specific to my system. It is not "ready for prime time". AFAIK there is not a general release later than 0.35...

But here is the solution to this bug:

If the user selects "All" in the Browse filter combo, MP sets the "Custom" check mark in the filter combo!

It only "looks like" custom mode has been selected, when actually the filter is set to "All"!

"All" is never reported by the filter combo.

So... when I enter a folder and inspect the filter, "Custom" is checked, but all files show. I must select (click-on) "Custom" to apply the custom filter (of course!). To remove the filter I must select "All", but the checkmark remains at "Custom"!

A simple bug, sorry I didn't catch it before. Getting old.

Really?? And with View>Filter>All? When i click on Filter>All, the good entry is selected..

Yes, I have tried this over and over:

• 1. Click View->Filter by...->Custom
  2. Observe file list shows Custom files only
  3. Observe View->Filter by... "Custom" is checked.
  4. Observe "mini" toolbar filter combo: "Custom" is checked.
  
  5. Click View->Filter by...->All
  6. Observe file list shows ALL files
  7. Observe View->Filter by... "Custom" is checked!
  8. Observe "mini" toolbar filter combo: "Custom" is checked!

I could make a little screen-capture movie, but don't have time currently.

Can others confirm?
