[MP0.38win] wrong thumbnail and file size after crop

Hi,

I cropped the same jpeg file with both XnView and XnViewMP.
Afterwards the thumbnails of the ones cropped in MP showed the picture of the original jpeg and with wrong orientation (in both XnView and MP). Additionally, the ones cropped in MP have sizes one bigger than and one almost as big as the original jpeg. The one cropped with XnView has a size half as big as the original jpeg.
This happens no matter whether "rebuild embedded thumbnail" in the format settings is activated or not.

XnView 1.98
XnViewMP 0.38
Windows XP SP3
that's what the thumbnails look like in browser view of XnView and XnView MP. But all cropped files themselves look similar, like the one cropped in XnView.

Both programs have same crop result for me. These options might be related (for v.0.35 at least)

1. '[x]Rotate image based on exif orientation'. v.1.98 cropping and saving will reset from Exif orientation (right-top) to (top-left).

2. Jpeg quality (a level higher than what original used can create bigger file).
Default in MP xnview.ini:
[Save]
JPEGQuality=80

Default in v.1.98:
[Save]
JpegQuality=80

This option is activated in both programs.

I have the settings in both programs equal (quality best, use estimated quality (when possible)).
So I still don't understand what makes the difference in my case.
Did you crop a file of which the thumbnail is rotated to upright format?

Yes I changed orientation first. Cropped 80% of duplicate jpeg and had 7.6K files at end.
I have not tried estimated quality.
v.1.98:
[Save]
UseOrgJPEGQuality=0
MP:
[Save]
useOriginalJPEGQuality=false
