MP 0.38.4 Win: Info icons and Exif Date disappear

Here are the images that are just copied from SD card.

Then IPTC/XMP data are batch added.

XnView is closed and re-opened. Info icons and Exif Date disappear!

Tested on MP 0.38.5.
After adding/editing the metadata, the info icons are displayed, but one icon is missing. The one with a white box within a box. What is this icon away?

As for the Exif Date, they do not appear immediately after adding/editing metadata. But by switching the view to other folder and returning, the Exif Date will appear.
New Observation:
When I open a folder that contain images which the metadata are added/edited using XnView 1.98.1, only one icon is shown and Exif Date is not shown.

Thank you for the info.
In that case, XnView 1.98.1 is not handling this correctly because there is no Exif thumbnail in my images, which are taken by using a compact digital camera.

Correction. There is Exif thumbnail in my images after verifying this using other application.
