How does XnView "locks" open files?

(I'm not a specialist in this case so maybe my wording will sound a little bit strange).

Many applications "lock" the file which is opened: When I try to open the same opened file I get an alert, and there are some commands which show the user if the file is used/opened/locked by another user.

How does XnView handles this situation? Does it "lock" the files? if yes - how to find it out in Windows?

Regards

Peter

In my experience, XnView's browser locks directories.
I never ran into problems with files that were in use.
