XnView keeps forgetting my settings

I keep getting the "Other Apps" window every time I open XnView. I don't get it when I open images, though.

XnView also keeps forgetting my bookmarks even when I edit them, close XnView and re-open XnView/images via XnView.

I also keep getting notifications such as this one and similar notifications. It prompts me with the same notification even if I check the "Do not show this message again" option.

Downgrading back to 1.99.5 didn't help either, originally I was using 1.99.6, so I re-installed 1.99.6 since going back to 1.99.5 did me no good.

Any help, or is this bug relevant?

Where do you save the xnview.ini?

a) Have you checked if you have the correct access permissions to the INI? For example Win7 does not allow writing to program folder without special permissions.
b) Try to define another place for the INI (drive d:\ or somewhere else ..) and test again.

Altering the permissions of the c:\program files\xnview folder seems to have done the trick for me, everything's working fine now.

Thank you for your support.

It's better to not save settings in 'Program files'
