Disable thum-bnails

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !

- You can disable *.PDF for the thumb-nail view : Options >>> Browser >>> Thumb-nails >> Tick the last box at the bottom of the page…
- You could attempt to remove the nick for Options >>> General >>> Startup >> “Use all formats available” if it's ticked.

 Kind regards,
Claude

Xnview will always try to process PDFs either in tab view or standard fullscreen regardless of options selected. The new options can discourage them from being previewed or thumbnailed, but that is all. 'Scan file headers' must be on for PDFs to truly disappear from file list, but that can make problem worse because a user may browse their download directory without realizing PDFs are slowing them down. This problem does not happen with AVI files. Movies have a View>File list option. Perhaps a similar option for PDFs might help, or the ability to force Xnview to exclude certain file types.

Problem: PDFs are always in viewer's file list.

yes, xnview definitely need such an option, and preferably, make it only process images by default, well, it is an _image_ viewer :)

well whatever the solution is, something needs to be implemented, are the developers reading this thread? i don't think they understand the severity of this problem, it basically makes it unuseable for normal image browsing w/o a lot of fustration.

Developers (there is only one) will read this thread. Pierre is busy at the moment, this is why he does not join discussions, much.

The PDF exclusion issue has been addressed in 1.80. There is an option to exclude PDF files. If this option does not work, this is a bug (can anyone check this). If there is needed more to make this work well, this will be surely added, but first the exisiting option should be used.

Ok, for a 1.80.2, i'll add use of this option Options > Browser > Preview > Display PDF in view or fullscreen mode, i'll change this option later...
Pierre.
