I Can No Longer Directly "View in Fullscreen" (F11)

I used to be able to view an image in Fullscreen mode directly from the Browser window by simply clicking F11 or right-click on the file name and then select "View in Fullscreen". However, lately nothing happens when I do this. The only way is to hit Enter (or select "Open") followed by F11.
I am using v 2.00 and it used to work fine in this version (I have same issue in v 1.97.8 )

I just tried F11 from the browser and context menu from browser - everything OK for me.

Have you checked all your settings? Tried to work with standard configuration?

Yes & Yes (and also downloaded and "installed" a fresh portable version)

... And a middle mouse click on thumbnail from the Browser Mode ?
(Options\Switching Mode)

Code: Select all

Use middle click to switch between:
Browser <> Fullscreen | Viewer <> Fullscreen

It also does not work....
Note that right-clicking and selecting "View in Fullscreen" also does not work, and that should always work.....
There is something more fundamentally wrong as I sometimes also see no preview in the Browser until I click F11; I will then see the preview in the Browser (but again no full screen).
I think that the troubles may have started after a Windows update (which also updated the video driver). I later updated the video driver to the absolute latest version, but it made no difference.

p.s. I am using WIN 7 64 bit

I am still trying to solve this issue. I now tried using msconfig;
I got F11 to work if I boot in Safe Mode (= Safe Boot).
However, it does not work if I use "Diagnostic Startup" or "Selective Startup" (disabling startup items and system services).

XnView is the only program that started to give me problems since my Windows Update (which may have been the cause of the problem).

Strange, could you try with a clean xnview.ini?

That was the first thing I tried; A new "installation" of the portable version with xnview.ini in the portable directory. Didn't help.
I just tried it again. Deleted the xnview.ini in the portable directory => xnview came up with the configuration wizard. Still same issue though..

Some years ago a standard problem with shortcuts was caused by "ATI Drivers for Monitors". It took a lot of shortcuts and overwrote them. But it is not a really possibility ...

This is not related to any shortcut issue since it also happens when I right-click and select "View in Fullscreen".

"View in fullscreen" doesn't work too?? And in view mode same problem?

Have you tried the MP version of xnview to see if it behaves the same way? Regardless whether it behaves the same or differently, KNOWING whether it behaves the same or differently might help narrow down the source of the problem.

Correct, "View in Fullscreen" also doesn't work. It works fine in View Mode.

As I wrote originally in the first post above: "I used to be able to view an image in Fullscreen mode directly from the Browser window by simply clicking F11 or right-click on the file name and then select "View in Fullscreen". (I believe that I am in "view Mode" after I hit Enter or select "Open"?)

What is MP version? The regular installation version? I prefer not to install anything more if I can avoid it... If Pierre really thinks that it would help, I could do it though...

The MP version is a version of xnview that's designed to be cross-platform.
