Browser thumbnails coloured strips on long edges

Due to the dimensions of my photos, there is a strip along the long edge of each thumbnail that is black. I know it wasn't when I first installed XnView - I was experimenting with back-ground colours and somehow every thumbnail got stuck with black strips. How do I get rid of them efficiently?

I've rebuilt the thumbnails, tried a few things under settings > database > optimise > clear thumbnails, have changed every customisable colour to white. I've even re-installed the software in an effort to get rid of it. Nothing has worked with one exception... The only way I've found, is to re-save each image and over-write the old. Surely there must be a quicker way...?!

I'm looking forward to getting to know the soft-ware much better, but this has rather put me off.

Many thanks for any help offered,

Joepho

Have you tried deactivating Use Embedded thumbnail in Tools » Options... » Browser » Thumbnails » Appearance?

Thank you very very much XnTriq. The thumbnails are much more recognisable now.

Was there any advantage to using embedded images anyway? Have a bewt day.

Hi Joepho. Welcome to the forum.

Reading just the embedded Exif thumbnail and not the entire JPEG file speeds XnView's browser up considerably.
