Request: Drag/drop to rearrange Compare thumbstrip

Please consider implementing drag/drop to rearrange thumbs in the Compare tab thumbstrip.

Many times the purpose of a comparison activity is to identify a sequence of images. It would be useful to build the sequence by dragging in the thumb strip while comparing images.

As a partner to this capability...

...a renaming function to sequence the filenames (by appending sequence numbers from left to right) would be very very useful. (Such a function would be good in the browser, too.)

Thanks for listening!

(emphasis mine)

What do you mean?

In browser there is already such a function. And I'm not against to "port" it in the Compare window. :)

I meant a specific "make sequence" function.

If the renaming tool were available in the thumbstrip AND multiple select was also available, then that would suffice.

I don't see any serious impediment in implementation. I think that the most serious is marking (by color? shape?) the 2-4 views in a different way compared with your multi-select. Also, I see a little fuzziness in mouse management: How do I select a photo for a Compare view and how do I do a multiple select?

Maybe an image "basket" instead of multi-select?

Oh! Oh! Oh!

Image 'baskets'! ....Btw, do you use(d) IDImager? Or Photo Supreme?
...Or ACDSee? (ok, ACDSee has also Burn Basket and Keywords)

...Or 'Quick Collection'/'Collections' in Lightroom?
...Or 'Albums' in a dozen of other programs? (Photo Album, Thumbs Plus etc.)
...Or 'Albums' in Zoner? :) ...also, keywords in Zoner are rather designed in this very simple manner and can be used as 'Image baskets'. Same thing about keywords stands for ACDSee. To be sincere, ACDSee has also categories for better cataloging.

I put also a request for Albums some time ago in forums: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=28322

Today everyone needs such a task oriented cataloging. Categories tree are content oriented cataloging.

Shall we go there to continue our discussion? :)
