View->Layout->Free not working

Hello,

I'm new to the forum (I think), but I've been using XnView since probably the very beginning, so kudos to the maker :)

I've just switched to XnViewMP, and I find layouts a bit confusing. If I understand well (and there I can say that in all these years, I've often thought I'd pay a reasonable sum to have a complete, up-to-date Help/Manual for XnView), there are layouts 1-8 and filmstrips 1-2, which are hardcoded, and then there are layouts A-E which are customizable. Then there's the "Free" item under View->Layout menu, which I guess means "Layouts A-E". It is confusing because it has a checkmark, but can't be unchecked, which is the very purpose of checkmarks...

What I was trying to do is LOCK my custom "A" layout so that I don't move panels around by accident when clicking clumsily in them, which happens a lot... Am I correct in thinking this locking can't be done? If that's the case, having all Layouts (1-8 and A-E) under the View->Layout menu (and in the "Filelist toolbar" as well) and a real, working checkmark item labelled "Lock" instead of "Free" would be a suggestion...

It seems that the layout engine has some problems.

Normally, the layouts from 1 to 8 and the two filmstrips are just some predefined configurations for the same layout engine underneath.

The 'Free' check-box is supposed to (UN)lock the free movement of the panels around.

The Layouts A-E are custom made layouts.

In this way it SHOULD be.

But indeed the things are a little bit fuzzy there.

However, how do I work:

I make my layout as I wish with "Free" option checked.
I save it as "Layout A".
I take care how I use the mouse. :D
If something happens (accidentally or intentionally) I restore the "Layout A".
