Can't play mp3 files.

I created a slide show with an mp3 file as background music.
However, the sound is not playing. I thought it might be an
inssue with variable or constant bit rates but it doesn't help
so much. Some mp3 files played back others not.

none of your mp3 can be played in slideshow? And in xnview?

Slideshow or xnview makes no difference. Some mp3 files can be played some not.
I converted some mp3 files from variable bitrate to constant bitrate but nothing changed.
In MediaMonkey all the mp3 files can be played of course.

It seems that you have no mp3 (DirectX) codec

Updated directx on my computer and installed ffdshow,
but didn't help (Windows 8.1).
