IPTC/XMP caption encoding on Windows and Linux

I found that all IPTC/XMP captions in Chinese I wrote on Linux version of XnViewMP turn into unrecognizable characters on Windows version, while Chinese captions wrote on Windows version is not readable on Linux version either.
Seem to be an encoding issue.

in XMP metadata too??
you can change iptc encoding to utf8

OK, now solved.
I think it's better to set "use utf-8 to write iptc fields" as default.

could you tell me please how I can set "use utf-8 to write iptc fields" for Windows? Where is this item in program settings?

Cday, thanks for the answer!
But I can't find function of edit IPTC data. In XnView - Edit -> Metadata -> Edit IPTC data. And I can to do it in XnViewMP?

It's moved:

Tools > Metadata > Edit IPTC/XMP...

Note: I don't use the browser, I just like a challenge... :wink:

I found IPTC metadata edit. I can hotkey ctrl+I also. UTF8 - it's cool!

In v0.84 (and probably earlier), "Use utf-8 to write iptc fields" is on by default.
