IPTC/XMP caption encoding on Windows and Linux

Post by rmtk »

I found that all IPTC/XMP captions in Chinese I wrote on Linux version of XnViewMP turn into unrecognizable characters on Windows version, while Chinese captions wrote on Windows version is not readable on Linux version either.
Seem to be an encoding issue.

OK, now solved.
I think it's better to set "use utf-8 to write iptc fields" as default.

Hi,
could you tell me please how I can set "use utf-8 to write iptc fields" for Windows? Where is this item in program settings?

It's moved:

Tools > Metadata > Edit IPTC/XMP...

Note: I don't use the browser, I just like a challenge...

In v0.84 (and probably earlier), "Use utf-8 to write iptc fields" is on by default.
