Remove toolbar and hide menus question

Hello, i want to use a couple windows with refereces for 3d modelling and the toolbar/menus are just a waste of space...is there any way to hide/remove when previewing images?

When viewing thumbnails in the file browser, or stepping through images in the viewer?
In either case there are some options in the
View menu to customise the interface, including hiding the toolbar, or you could experiment with using full screen mode if that might be useful...
