Have spent a lot of time figuring this out myself. Many attempts, many tools.
Give up.
Anybody here who can help please.
I have a lot of screenshots that need to be converted to
width say 28cm
height say 17cm
this will fit A4
the results can later be combined into a PDF file.
How to do this?
I tried with XnView nConvert
=
=
but the file became larger .. instead of smaller ..

How to set what/where..??
Many thanks!

If your aim is to print the image(s) yourself do you actually need to do anything: if you print from XnView software or a PDF from Adobe software, the print menu has an option to fit the image to the page...
As the aspect ratio of your 2560 x 1600 pixel screenshot (1.6) is different from the aspect ratio of 297 x 210 mm A4 paper (1.414) a perfect fit isn't possible, of course, but software typically offers alternative printing fit options in this case. And as the number of pixels in a screenshot is very low by normal printing standards, you might find that rescaling the image(s) to larger pixel dimensions gives better print quality, but you would have to experiment with that option.
If you do need to change the image properties, could you upload a sample screenshot?

Yes, you are right, PDF is a poor example - sorry.
I can also import the files into Acrobat that will go fine. Though in this example, the window should be resized to 30-40% or so.
But in general, I'd like to be able to reduce the sizes, so I might send them as an attachment, or, for instance, add them to a word document
without having to resize all screenshots one by one.
Width should be something like 25-28 cm and height roughly 17-19 cm - so it falls well within the A4 paper size and is can decently be viewed
on a normal monitor.

below find an example.
I don't know if the upload is a success, because of the screensize, forum software probably resizes it and maybe also the filesize, no idea...
(filesize is just 154kb)

I'm sorry but I'm not clear about what you wish to do: you want to create multiple screenshots but you don't want to print them yourself, you want to be able to send them as a file that can be viewed on screen by the recipient?
If you want to send the screenshots as a file, do you want to send just the screenshots (as images in a multi-page PDF file, for example), or do you wish to embed the screenshots as illustrations in a Word document, for example, with other content like text? If that is the case, you should be able to paste them onto a Word page and then resize them using the image tools in Word.

Okay, thanks for the feedback.
Let it rest for the time being. I've spent too much time on this (hours),
trying with a number of tools, testing various options, etc.
One way or the other it is a bit complicated to resize to a fixed width/height.
I'll try to find some workaround.
Thanks again.

I think it should be possible if the requirement is clear, but I'm afraid I've found some parts of your posts confusing, and establishing the required end result including how the final output will be used can sometimes assist in suggesting suitable solutions...

“
Maximum thumbnail width” is currently set to 640 pixels.
Clicking on the thumbnail takes you to the full-res version. In my experience, phpBB doesn't modify the original upload.
