I suggest to add "Save As" (and maybe also "Save") to menu, toolbar button and shortcut also for Browser.

Yes, a single picture. "Save As" dialog should appears also after "Ctrl+S".

I don't like this. "Save as..." is for saving a changed file. For converting people should open the file or use "Convert...".

Why? Converting a single picture would be much easier.

I miss such feature long time. It would be very useful.

When a door is hard to open and squeakes, you put oil on it. But you won't saw a whole into it to walk through.

What I mean:
If "Convert" is complicated to use, we should try to make it easier to use. For example, the output folder could be the same as the original file. And the output folder could be a drop down list with recently used folders. Just some initial ideas...

But perhaps it would be great to make special dialog to convert or resize pictures easily...

I agree, but we (Helmut?) should start a new topic...

Anyway, I still think "Save As" in Browser would be useful.

Please reread my "door" analogy. We have Sequence convert, a Multi convert and a Batch rename. Do you really want to add a "Quick convert"?

Problem seems to be a complicated conversion dialog if you simply want to change the format. So let's try to make that one simpler, first. And if this does not work out, we still can try to find another solution.

Let's continue this thread. Until now this is all "in-topic".

Batch convert will use current directory if its output field is cleared with <del>. Because of this, it is faster than other method for me. Perhaps the dialogue can be improved (while keeping it small enough). Possibilites:

1. Display "Same directory as file(s)" instead of empty space for output directory when possible.
2. Down Arrow with recent directories, including "Same directory as file(s)", to right of output directory. Favorites?
3. Automatically include filename when launching from viewer (more powerful alternative to 'save as'). http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=2955

:) Hello !

- To convert a single file at the same time, this solution could do the trick as well…

Ah yes, the long combo-box list problem. What if 5 most recently used types were floated to top of list with a separator?

He wants another dialog(s)? Then I disagree.

I have several suggestions to "Improve Batch Convert", but we can continue here...

:) Hi again !

- Sounds good as a temporary minimal improvement (could be set as extra INI-entries like proposed here) but could not solve the problem of a needed alternative path for saving, in example : *.aaa in path #1 >> *.bbb in path #2 >>> *.aaa in path #1 … and so on…
- Moreover, the Ouistiti's brainwave of (a) "Wildcard" button(s) is great, an should allow to add / change to any "exotic" format if needed at any time, quickly and easily…
- About the topic here, indeed I think too that "Save as…" might be available from all modes, I support the Dreamer's request.

Improve Batch Convert

Improve Batch Convert suggestions:

#1 "[x] Use the same directory as file(s)" (Marsh, you were faster  )

#2 Rename [Options] "button" to [Format Options] and automatically focus on selected format

#3 Divide some "special" options, e.g. load/save script, nconvert

#4 (maybe?) Add "buttons" for most used actions, e.g. [Resize], [Crop], [Add Text] and automatically open "Advanced Operations" dialog and focus on appropriate option

Thanks Clo.
