hi,
i know, there are some threads about caching and other cache optimizing issues.
maybe, if this report isnt a double-entry, you could merge this post with them, because 1)+2) are still not workin in 1.80.3.

1)
options->browser->cache
click on "cached directories" or "images" or "size" to sort the entries.
it will not sort.

found at: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=2402

2)
click on "optimize".
after optimizing your cache, you will see folders that doenst exist anymore on the harddrive,
but the entries "cached directories" "images" "size" are showing "P:\pics\folder" "24" "185.75KB" or something...
while other entries show images "0" and size "26bytes" where a lot of pictures are in this folder.

isnt optimizing deleting all the folder-entries xnview doesnt need anymore?

I think that for next BIG release, i'll change the way to cache thumbnails, and i'll use a true DB for that.

Hi Pierre,

What i am missing is the possibility to set a maximum size on the cache folder.

Martin

The main problem in cache from my point of view is speed.
When I enter a directory where there are a lot of images ( >500)
the PC gets stuck for fews seconds. This is annoying.

Xnview shall just display current images & update in background.

Easy to say but maybe complex to do !

Here and there…

…Xnview shall just display current images & update in background. …
- Please, just give a look here and next…
- This seems really needed.
