hello
I make great use of the very efficient rating feature in XnViewMP (with the 1-5 colored stars) which allows easy filtering for any combination of star-ratings. However, I couldn't figure out yet how to show only the fotos which have no star-rating yet (because they are the ones I still have to look at and have to give a rating)

You can use this method:

View, Sort by, Show headers.
If "Rating" is not shown, right-click in headers to add it, or move it, if necessary

headers look like this :

...here sort by Exif date is enabled

Then, you can click on "Rating" header, to sort images.
Images without rating will stay at the top, or bottom ...
You can also choose : View, View as, Details.

...

And to work on a large amount of photos, you can use recursive view

Thanks for the fast reply. Now with your input and looking again a little bit better I found now the funnel symbol (2), which has my required "unrated" field (3). Before I was looking only at the categories filter (1), which has similar functionality as the funnel (2), but w/o the "unrated" possibility.
For me this now perfect , maybe it would be nice that to add the "unrated" also to the category-filter in the future
