Startup Wizard - Check for updates

Hello,
Is there a way to change the defaults for the Startup Wizard when a person first opens the application? Most people just press OK and don't look to make adjustments. I am looking to change "check for program updates" from weekly to Never.

That setting can be changed in
Tools > Settings... > General -- General tab [at the bottom] ...

Hello,
I am looking to change this for all users(global). If a person logs into the computer and opens the application for the first time, they are presented with the Start Wizard. One of the options is check for updates. For each person who logs in, I am looking to have that Start Wizard show Never instead of weekly.
Are you saying that this is a global setting? I had tried that before and people were still presented with the Start Wizard and weekly was the default selection.

The program settings can be changed after it is launched and the new settings selected will then be persistent for that installation...

You are suggesting that the default should be changed to 'Never'?
I haven't seen the Start Wizard for a while, but presumably the setting can be changed at that point to 'Never'?
Or are you possibly asking whether you could edit a setting somewhere yourself, so that 'Never' is displayed when the Start Wizard is displayed??

When I installed the application, I installed it for everyone. When different people log onto the computer and they open the application or click on an associated image for the first time, they are presented with

It is a one time thing, but they are presented with the option of Check for programs weekly. It can be changed to monthly as well as Never. The people do not have admin rights. If they are constantly being told about an update, it could be annoying to them. I would prefer to set this to Never as the default, versus having to ask them to change it themselves.

Pierre, the developer of all XnView software, is possibly on vacation at the moment, so you will probably have to wait for a reply from him...
Suppressing the Start Wizard entirely when the program is launched for the first time would meet your needs, wouldn't it?
[Edit: if the check for updates default is 'Never']
And we can perhaps distinguish between the possibilities of modifying your existing installation somehow, and the possibility of reinstalling a slightly modified version with either 'Never' or the wizard suppressed completely as above, if that could provide a solution?
I don't know if anyone else might be able to help, there is possibly a setting in your installed installation that could be edited, but I wouldn't be too optimistic about that (yes, I'm thinking of you XnTriq...

) ?

Thanks,
Yes, if it was possible to suppress the start wizard entirely, where the settings are automatically chosen(ex ini file to roaming profile, never check for update, etc..), that would be preferred.
If it could not be done that way, having the default selection be set to never would work as well. People are so use to just click OK and accept the defaults.
I don't mind re-installing or modifying the current installation if need be.

Apologies for the late response.

Editing the
xnview.ini files for all users should do the trick:
Check for program updates in
Tools →
Settings… →
General →
General has 4 options:
- 0 = Never
- 1 = Daily
- 2 = Weekly
- 3 = Monthly
As far as I can tell, there's no registry key for the updater (
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\XnView\XnViewMP\Start).

Thanks all for the assistance.
On Friday, with a test account, I opened the application for the first time and selected Never for the updater at the Startup Wizard. After doing so, the application opened. While opened I copied the XnViewMP folder, located in the Appdata-Roaming folder. This is what the ini file looked like:
I copied the XnViewMP folder(including the xnview ini, xnviewmp database, thumbnail database) to the Appdata-Roaming folder of the Default user. The idea is for people accessing the computer for the first time, to get that folder copied to their individual roaming folder, eliminating the prompting of the Startup Wizard.
I tested it with new test accounts to see what would happen. And it seems to open fine with the correct settings. Does that work as well or are there any known issues with doing that?

So now when a new user opens 'MP for the first time, the startup wizard is displayed with check for updates set to 'never', what you wanted?

I have no personal experience of networked computers, but I suspect you may be the first person to raise the issue you raised and to do that, or at least to report it...

.
Doing this actually bypasses the startup wizard entirely as the ini file is already in their Appdata-Roaming folder(copied from Default User).

Glad to be the first!

This doesn't have to be about networked computers. It can also be if creating local accounts on a non-networked computer. Either way, it is referencing the Default User folder in creating the local account for a new user.
