Hello,

I have videos and images in a single folder, and I'm noticing a difference in version 0.94 vs. 0.94.1 when using sort by EXIF Date Taken. To complete the story, note that I manually set File: Creation Date to the date the video was taken.

* 0.94: when sorting by EXIF: Date Taken, xnviewmp uses the File: Creation Date for videos since EXIF: Date Taken does not exist, and for me, videos and images appear nicely in actual chronological order when using sort by EXIF: Date Taken.
* 0.94.1: setting sort by EXIF: Date Taken results in all videos shown first, then followed by all the images which is not what I'd like to have. Maybe this change compared to 0.94 is related to https://www.xnview.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=1690.

As of now, I'm unsure as to the target behavior of xnviewmp for sort by EXIF: Date Taken, when sorting images and video. All I can say is that the behavior of 0.94 is - at least for me - the desired one.

yes, you need to add in your xnview.ini to have same behavior of 0.94

A lot of popular devices set the "Media created" field for videos instead of "Date taken". In order to present a slideshow with both, photos and videos, in the correct order, it would be great if "Media created" could be used when "Date taken" is missing. Is that possible already?

Any chance to get this into XnView? This seems to be also what Windows Explorer is doing when you sort by "Date". There photos and videos are sorted together nicely in chronological order.

So it was OK in 0.94.1

In 0.95 i put
useFileDateWhenNoExif=1
in the xnview.ini (at the second line, after [start])
and i restart xnviewMP.
Setting sort by
EXIF: Date Taken
results in all videos shown first, which shouldn't (as I understand).

Note that my mp4 videos do have a Creation Date, which (as I understand) should be used when useFileDateWhenNoExif=1
