video preview on transparent video

When previewing video files in XN View MP, if that video file has an alpha channel (ie. is transparent) the frames stack on top of each other (see attached screenshot of a clip of snow falling)
It looks like the image buffer isn't cleared before drawing the next frame or something. Is this a bug? is there a fix for this? thanks for your help

I had been running 0.93, but can confirm that the issue persists in 0.95.
From about screen:

Seems to be related to video driver, i have no problem here

Any suggestions on how to fix?
Doesn't happen in XnView by the way, just XnView MP. Which is what made me think it might have been a bug

Classic use installed codec, XnView MP used ffmpeg based api
