Automatically apply parent keywords - Improvement request

Hello,

Among category properties there is a very clever one : the checkbox "Don't export", with the logic that some categories are created just for "categories management" and not for being applied on images (eg. "year", "subject", etc)

This logic could be carried a little bit further in order to be completely consistent. For now this property is used only on export of metadata. I would like to see it used also when applying categories.

I suggest for this a new setting option

F12 > Metadata > IPTC&XMP > ☑ Automatically apply parent keywords.
☑ Only apply exportable parent keywords

Thank you for listening !

Postscript 1 : "F12 > Metadata > IPTC&XMP" should be labelled "IPTC,XMP & categories" for the sake of clarity.
Postscript 1 : Does anyone know how to indent text in this forum without using code tags ?

yes, will be great. Not needed to have another setting checkbox in category properties?

Hello

No, no need to have another setting checkbox in category properties for this improvement.

Thank you for listening

Hello

For the sake of clarity :

F12 > Metadata > IPTC&XMP > ☑ Automatically apply parent keywords/categories.
☑ Only apply exportable parent keywords/categories

Thank you for listening

it's not better to have a check box for 'Export children' instead 'Only apply exportable parent categories'?
