XnView Software

Unfortunately I don't have a minimum reproducible case, but I always encounter this issue in my use case.


So I have a folder which I used to save my scans (in BMP). I will leave that folder open in XnView MP browser, so I can see all the new images.

After a while, the folder will have batch of images. All with thumbnails already showing, of course.

I sometimes batch rename these files, not sure if it matters.
Now, if I change folder (say, going into a subfolder) and then go back, all the images will somehow re-load its thumbnail.

This will only happen once for this batch of file. But it will happen again if I scan some new files.

This bug doesn't happen if I just copy and paste files, but it ALWAYS happen if I scan new images.

This is quite annoying, because these files are huge, they took very long to cache.

Nope, that tab is empty.

Do you use one instance of XnViewMP or more at the same time?

You can optimize your cache database to get a better performance in thumbnail view.

Try:

Tools menu => settings
=> Catalog => Button Optimize...
Use the following settings:

It happens with just one instance. But I do sometimes have multiple opening.

I will try cleanup the db and see if it helps.

Also, I recently noticed that sometimes XnView MP just straight up doesn't refresh the file list. Added a new file in the folder, it didn't show even after refresh (F5). I have to leave the current folder and back to have the new files shown.

I experience this bug now as well.
