XnViewMP 1.4.3 64bit
Windows11 64bit (22H2), display resolution 3840x2160, win scaling 150%

Viewer
strange file size on Save after Save as

To reproduce:
1. run clean portable XnViewMP
2. open any picture (eg attached one)

png.zip: (131.75 KiB) Downloaded 64 times

3. press CTRL+SHIFT+S to Save as jpg_1.jpg (default format options)
4. in win file explorer make copy of this file, eg jpg_2.jpg

: save1.png (1.04 KiB) Viewed 794 times

5. press CTRL+S in xnview
file size changes from 54KB to 150KB

: save2.png (1.24 KiB) Viewed 794 times

6. close xnview

7. open jpg_2.jpg
8. press CTRL+S
file size changes from 54KB to 58KB (expected fluctuation)

Few examples saving with other formats (default settings):

What happes on step3 that affects file size so much?
I would expect 'Save as' produce the same result as Save on step8 (with minor fluctuation if lossy settings).

the output file is PNG not JPEG

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.4.4. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
