Approved... If the filenames list is long, the preview will become smaller ?
For me, a detailed preview isn't very important when renaming as said above

• if there is no ability to change actions' order, I doubt its required to place them one under another, eg "Extension" and "Case" can be left untouched

With a limited number of actions, it's no problem to view them all.
In anticipation of an increase in the number of actions (in the future), then this option would be interesting.
In fact, there are actions that are always used, and others that are rarely used. The ones used all the time are more comfortable at the beginning of the list.

nope

I guess the only 'must to have' change in existing dialog is - to rearrange Replace controls,
the rest are 'nice to have', but xnview is not a renaming app, so..

to reduce height, you can:
- reposition one checkbox in Replce group
- remove Note above filelist

imo, as a low effort rework its a good one
- actions are grouped
- dialog retains the same size
- only down size - black stripes with hoizontal images
