Reducing the filesize of JPEG files, XnView Classic or XnResize?

Can XnResize do something that xnview classic cannot?

I am looking for a way to compress jpg.
So not to reduce the resolution or image size, but the file size.
Does this work with XnView classic or XnResize?
And how?

Thanks for help :)

You can reduce the filesize of JPEG files in any xnview software by changing the compression level used when the files are resaved after opening... :D

The process can be performed on individual files using XnView Classic or the newer XnView MP, which is now the preferred software to use, or on multiple files using the Batch convert facility in either, or by using the neat standalone XnConvert batch conversion software.

I'm not familiar with XnResize but assume that it is a simple utility that performs the same operation?

As a Linux user I don't have XnView Classic, but expect to find a settings button on the save menu where the file compression value used when files are saved, and other possibly useful settings, can be set. To test saving at different compression settings, be sure to identify and uncheck the option to save at the existing compression level when that can be determined.

FileExportJPEG
JpegXL (JXL) is much better to reduce file size without lost too much quality.
You can do it in XnView MP individual or massive converting method.
