Image orientation wrong

I often find that some pictures have the wrong orientation. When I use File Explorer to display the original orientation of the picture, it is portrait, but when I use the XnView browser to display the picture, it changes to landscape. If I enter edit mode, it returns to portrait (as shown in the picture)?

Yes, the picture is a portrait but the thumbnail error in Xnview is landscape.

A JPG file with an embedded image, do you mean it is an image similar to a compressed file?

in JPEG file, you have the image and a thumbnail. Check by disabling 'Settings>Thumbnails>Use embedded...' and 'View>Rebuild thumbnails'

I understand, now the problematic pictures can be restored to the correct direction, but I need to select all the problematic pictures to do it, and other problematic pictures will not be automatically corrected. I hope this can be improved, thank you.
